Standard 7: Planning Instruction
Summary
Teachers need to be able to adapt their teaching styles and lessons around their knowledge of the content and the curriculum goals, the needs of their students, and the demands of the community. Teachers need to encourage students to draw on prior knowledge as well as using the process of inquiry and need to incorporate technology in a useful and effective manner that promotes enhanced student learning. In order to do all of this, instructional planning is necessary to direct the lessons in a meaningful way.
Common Artifact- Health lesson using CDC website and health standards (1.5.1 Describe the relationship between healthy behaviors and personal health. 1.5.3 Describe ways in which safe and healthy school and community environments can promote personal health.)
I gave a health lesson in fourth grade and was able to use various sources to help plan for the lesson. I created an instructional plan complete with an attention getter that used glitter, instruction with the Magic School Bus video, and sentence frame assessment. Below are the glitter and movie used.
